AS A DESIGNER...

Darlene/Lady Sekhmet understands and uses the principles of sacred geometry. Her graphic designs are innovative, but they are always based upon classical foundations.

AS AN ILLUSTRATOR...

She works intelligently with symbols, understands their significance, and uses them powerfully and appropriately.

AS A SACRED ARTIST...

She makes spiritual energy tangible. The sacred objects she creates become a true bridge between the unmanifest and the manifest.

DARLENE's creative abilities have true power because she has balanced her right brain intuitive grasp and awareness of pure principle with her left brain graduate studies in design communication at Indiana University (MFA, 1987).

Always guided by the power of beauty, Darlene's work serves to visually focus subtle energy, "I work with how the shape of something defines its meaning." Through her work, Darlene sharpens the understanding of important metaphysical concepts. Her work serves as a powerful focus through which manifestation may take place. Darlene speaks from experience, "At certain moments, there is no difference between a shaman and an artist. They have both been to the void. The difference lies in how they bring back the message."

Darlene remembers many lifetimes as craftsman, artisan, and calligrapher. Her hands seem to retain a memory of how to work with unusual materials--having the facility to carve sacred pipes, bead mocassins, sew banners, illuminate manuscripts, bind books, and create ceremonial objects (Egyptian and Golden Dawn). Darlene has made a deep study of symbols and their archetypal significance. She uses them honestly and with intelligence and understanding.

Darlene's innate ability to intuitively apply the principles of sacred geometry in all her endeavors has been an asset: "My sense of aesthetics is so strong, it's impossible for me to create something with bad proportions." Because her work appeals on several subtle levels at once, many refer to her designs as "fractal." From the choice of page format and graphics to the details of the illustrations, meaning is amplified. Memory is harvested.

As a devoted and active practioner in several spiritual traditions, Darlene/Lady Sekhmet is facinated by the similiarities of diversity and seeks to bring them closer towards unity. Her passion is to share her talents with those who would:

build community
promote the principles of compassion, tolerance, love, and oneness
create a public awareness of the earth as a living jewel
empower individuals to make freewill choices based on compassion
